Your morning sets the tone for your entire day. Establishing a regular routine helps you to feel energized and accomplished. Below, we go over some simple steps you can try to make sure you start each morning off on the right foot!

Small steps, big rewards

A healthy morning routine does not require drastic steps. Small routines and activities have a big impact on ensuring you feel fresh and energized, and have a great day.

Wake up at the same time

The circadian rhythm is the body’s natural 24-hour cycle that helps you sleep at night and feel alert during the day. Disruptions to this cycle, such as sleeping and waking at sporadic times, result in poor sleep and tiring, stressful days1.

Keep your circadian rhythm on track, and thus ensure good sleep and productive days, by waking up around the same time every day (even on the weekends).

For the best results, do your morning stretches on your bedroom floor. The hard surface will provide more stability. You can use a wall or your bed for back support.

Stretch

When you wake up, spend at least five minutes stretching your arms and legs. Lift your hands above your head and point your toes. This will get your blood flowing. Stretching also helps keep your muscles flexible, which improves strength and the range of motion in your joints.

Drink lemon water

While you wait for your coffee to brew, make yourself a glass of warm water with lemon. This is a super healthy way to start your day. The water will hydrate you while the acid from the lemon aids in digestion and provides vitamin C and antioxidant properties2.
