Eco-conscious home cleaning

Amway Home provides environmentally friendly solutions for your household needs

Stay on top of your home cleanliness with a weekly schedule. If you don’t want to do everything at once, you can divide the days by room or task, such as kitchen on Tuesdays, mop on Thursdays and do laundry on Sundays. Tidying up to clear clutter first will make the cleaning process faster. As you’re tackling household chores, consider making a step-by-step checklist for actions to do in each room.

The Amway Home line has the answer to almost every household need and the products that contain our patented BioQuest Formula™. The formula delivers a powerful and concentrated cleaning solution with active ingredients, rather than empty fillers and water, so you can get more out of less product. Products with our BioQuest Formula™ are also completely biodegradable, meaning they decompose naturally, and they are tested by a dermatologist to ensure they’re kind to your skin.

Sustainable products

Amway Home products are certified by the AISE Charter for Sustainable Cleaning. All products mentioned in this article are also certified Safer Choice by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The Safer Choice programme recognises products that have more positive human health and environmental characteristics than conventional products of the same type.

Looking for some inspiration? Here’s a sample of a weekly room-by-room cleaning schedule you can follow, as well as the eco-friendly Amway Home products you’ll need.

Day 1: Kitchen

Giving your kitchen a weekly scrub and wipe down is a good habit to get into so you can avoid a build-up of crumbs and grime. Use reusable cloths and sponges instead of paper towels to reduce waste. Remember to reach the areas you don’t spot upon first glance, such as the inside of the refrigerator and oven. These are prime areas for build-up and may become harder to clean over time if left unattended.

We recommend using L.O.C.™ Kitchen Cleaner for sealed, washable surfaces, such as countertops, stovetops, appliances, sinks and fridges. This is a citrus-scented, heavy-duty cleaning product that is strong enough to cut through the toughest grease and grime. The concentrated formula makes it a real value for your money. A 500 ml bottle lasts as long as four regular spray bottles of cleaner. It contains no phosphates, harsh acids, alkalis or chlorine bleach – so no harmful fumes to breathe in nor severe chemicals on your skin.

For your oven, use the Gel Oven Cleaner AMWAY™. This unique gel formula softens, lifts and dissolves grease and baked-on food, so that you can simply wipe them away. The cleaner comes with a handy brush to help make your scrubbing easier.

Day 2: Bathrooms

Bathrooms tend to require a variety of products, so it is best to get all your products lined up beforehand. We recommend the L.O.C.™ Bathroom Cleaner for most surfaces, including ceramic tiles, porcelain, plastic and stainless steel. If cleaning only ceramic tiles, you can make do with just SA8™ All Fabric Bleach. It is powerful enough to remove hard water stains, but gentle enough to not scratch. The concentrated formula dissolves soap scum easily and rinses away to leave a streak-free surface. As a bonus: the L.O.C.™ Bathroom Cleaner contains citric acid derived from renewable sources.

For the toilet, we recommend the phosphate-free and chlorine-free L.O.C.™ Toilet Bowl Cleaner, sure to remove limescale and other stains. Organic acids help remove the most stubborn ring around the bowl and work below the water line to also remove hard-water mineral deposits. The fresh scent comes from the NEUTRALODOR™ deodorising formula to help eliminate unpleasant odours. The product is safe for septic tanks and plumbing systems.

Day 3: Living room and dining room

Large rooms can feel overwhelming, but it helps to visualise the room you’re cleaning as a grid. That way, you can work your way from top to bottom and wall to wall and avoid cleaning the same area twice. To make mopping go more smoothly, sweep or vacuum first to remove hair and debris.

For any surface that water won’t hurt, we recommend the versatile L.O.C.™ Multi-Purpose Cleaner. This biodegradable cleaner uses naturally derived ingredients to take away dirt and other residue. Best of all, there is no rinsing necessary, so that’s one step you can skip.

For glass windows, mirrors and TV screens, we recommend L.O.C.™ Glass Cleaner. The natural, plant-based ingredients work wonders on glass surfaces to give you that beautiful, streak-free shine. Just spray the product on the surface and wipe it dry!

Day 4: Laundry room

Reduce water and energy consumption by waiting until you have a full load of laundry before running the machine. If clothes are only lightly soiled, adjust soil setting to “light” to reduce wash time and save energy. When washing, keep in mind that all Amway Home detergents are best at 15°C.

For delicate fabrics, such as silk, wool or sports clothing with special finishes, we recommend SA8™ Delicate Concentrated Liquid Laundry Detergent. This detergent uses plant-sourced ingredients to remove stains from your delicates and also leaves your items smelling fresh. It can be used for both machine and hand washing. It also has a controlled foaming formula that reduces the need for rinsing, which saves you time and energy when hand washing.

For crisp white textiles or a detergent booster that is gentle on colours, we recommend SA8™ All Fabric Bleach. This powerhouse product uses oxygen bleach, rather than chlorine, to clean. It is also a versatile cleaner that can be used for stains around the house, including on the carpet.
