Although you probably don’t need one, we’ve found the perfect excuse to dig into a sumptuous American-style festive dinner.

Christmas is a big deal in many American homes. So, since this year marked Amway’s 60th anniversary, we took the A60 celebrations as inspiration and gathered a selection of our favourite American Christmas dinner dishes. Travelling across states, our festive menu offers an irresistible harmony of flavours, cultures and traditions, which not only pay homage to the incredible global Amway family, but are sure to impress your guests.

Traditionally delicious

From east to west, north to south, American Christmas dishes are as rich with flavour as they are with traditions. The end of the year is a joyous time for family, near or far, to come together and enjoy the important experience of passing down favourite recipes, cooking and eating together. In keeping with this practice, we present you with Christmas recipes from all corners of the US, in a stellar four-course menu, so you can partake in the customs and turn your Christmas or festive dinners into unforgettable experiences.

Note: The recipes are designed to serve four people, so increase ingredients if you anticipate more guests.

Vegetarian stuffed mushrooms

Looking for a tasty entrée for your festive table? Mushrooms are delicious and nutritious even when eaten solo. So why not take it up a notch by packing them with even more vegetarian goodness and adding a flavour sensation that will have you salivating at first sight? Frying the red pepper – also known as a “Christmas pepper” because it morphs from green to red during the festive winter season – with onions, mushroom stems and parsley in a 10-inch iCookTM non-stick frying pan creates a tantalising base. Stuffing the mushrooms and placing them in the non-stick pan, covered with a lid, steams the flavour all the way through, ensuring no bite is boring.

Steak with Gorgonzola herbed butter and butternut squash–potato mash

Bring the midwestern festive spirit to your home with a Nebraska Christmas speciality – steak! Using an iCook senior sauté pan and lid and adding Gorgonzola herbed butter will ensure your steak is juicy and flavourful, while also striking the perfect balance between crusty and tender. Whip up a side of mashed potatoes with butternut squash in the iCook 4-litre stock pot and lid and, voilà, your scrumptious main meat dish is ready.

Almond-stuffed cod with roasted potatoes

Integrating the American-Italian “Feast of the Seven Fishes” Christmas tradition into your yuletide table is sure to bring an extra touch of festivity. This almond-stuffed cod (alternate with any stuffing of your choice) is a great way to add some seafood to your holiday feast. Cooking the cod, with an optional addition of bacon, over low heat on the 12-inch iCook non-stick frying pan and lid, is an easy way to ensure it is cooked through, while also enjoying the intoxicating aromas it emits.
