Don’t forget to look after yourself this time of year

As easy as it is to be caring for everything and everyone else, it’s absolutely essential to take care of you. As my husband says, “When momma’s happy, everyone’s happy.” Smart man. But there is some truth to that. Simply put, when you feel good about yourself, it shows in everything that you do, and you do everything just a little better.

There is one part of you that is a true reflection of everything else: your skin. In the midst of all of any chaos, you must remember that your skin is not only feeling the stress of your body, your brain and your life … but it’s showing it as well. Sticking with your daily regimen is so critical at this hectic time of year, but for me I push through by making sure that my skin is receiving a little more than usual. It’s during this season that I add two treatments into my daily skin care regimen. I add ARTISTRY™ Vitamin C + Wild Yam before my regular serum during the day, and ARTISTRY INTENSIVE SKINCARE™ 14 Night Restore Program before my serum at night. You all know I’m an advocate of simplicity, but I know when my skin needs more! My next trick is the best! I keep a tube of ARTISTRY HYDRA-V™ Refreshing Eye Gel Cream in my refrigerator. After I cleanse, tone and treat, I apply my super-cool hydrating eye cream beneath my tired, puffy eyes. Then, I follow it with either my ARTISTRY YOUTH XTEND™ Enriching Eye Cream or ARTISTRY SUPREME LX™ Regenerating Cream. Yes, I use two eye products during the day! That first layer of super cool hydration cools the skin and locks in water, while my ARTISTRY YOUTH XTEND and ARTISTRY SUPREME LX™ creams target those “signs of ageing”.

Drink to good skin

You also have to maintain energy levels and the clarity to focus on tasks at hand. This is accomplished with four easy tasks. One, a good night’s sleep. Two, adequate hydration. At least eight glasses of water per day is essential for basic body hydration. Three, daily nutrients. You cannot get around the impact that essential vitamins and minerals have on the overall health and functioning of the body. NUTRILITE™ Daily or NUTRILITE DOUBLE X™ have what is needed to ensure that your body gets its basic daily requirements of nutrients. Last but not least, exercise. Now, I’m not saying go out and run a marathon. What I am saying is that a small bit of added exercise will trigger an increase in energy levels, stamina and focus. So take the stairs rather than the elevator, spend five minutes stretching when you get out of bed in the morning, take a walk or jog down the street, or dance to music while cooking dinner. Any little extra makes a difference.

Indulge … with restraint!

Have you heard the phrase “Garbage in, garbage out”? When you put bad gasoline in an automobile, you get poor performance from your vehicle. When you put unhealthy foods into your mouth, you get poor performance of your body. This isn’t always easy during the holiday season. Sweets, treats, carbs, fats and top it all off with alcohol and sugary drinks! Yes, indulge by all means, but be aware of just how much! Don’t regret your choices and have to spend the next six weeks having to “un-do” the holiday season. Keep your food choices healthy and nutrient-rich to keep your body a lean, mean holiday machine!

The holidays are here, so make the best of it … enjoy the laughter, the lights, the family and friends … but most importantly … look and feel like a million bucks!
